Why we exist

Two failures account for almost every complaint in this category, and both are decided before the folder is made.

The first is the card. Without a stitched slot the card lies loose on the receipt, and a loose card gets closed inside the folder, slides out on the walk to the till, or stays on the table. It is a sewing operation costing almost nothing and it is missing from most presenters sold.

The second is the finish. The soft, open, expensive-feeling aniline leather takes a greasy thumbprint on the first evening and keeps it, and by month two the corners are dark. The best-looking leather is genuinely the wrong leather for this job, and almost nobody is told that before they buy.

What we actually make

Card-slot presenters with the receipt pocket kept separate. Wipeable coated and pigmented finishes for high-turnover rooms. Sealed full-grain leather where the folder is part of the theatre, with the maintenance answer given honestly. Slim presenters cut to your POS receipt width. Blind-debossed branding placed away from where thumbs sit. And hotel folios sized for a folded invoice with a slot that actually holds a key card.

Everything has reinforced corners, because that is where every old folder we are shown has worn through first, and corner pockets rather than elastic, because elastic perishes and marks the material as it goes.

What we do not make

Menu covers, wine list covers, menu boards or menu inserts. Different sizing, different product, and there are suppliers who do nothing else.

Padfolios and conference folders — different hinge, and there is a writing pad in the middle of them.

And we do not print cheques or receipts. That is a financial product and we are a folder maker.

Three things we will tell you that cost us money

The nicest leather in our range is the wrong choice for a busy room. Unsealed aniline absorbs; a sealed finish wipes. If you want the open hide anyway, order it — just order it knowing what it will look like in month three.

Most ruined leather presenters we are shown were damaged by storage, not use. A shelf near a pass or a glasswasher does more harm in a month than a year of service does.

And a centred logo on the front is exactly where a thumb sits when a folder is carried, which is why centred logos are the first thing to look tired. High or offset lasts.

How we price

No dollar figures on this site. Price moves with the material, the finish, the number of stitched pockets and the quantity. Send the details and a real quote comes back the same day, with a lowest-price guarantee if you are already holding a cheaper one — and we will tell you if the cheaper one has no card slot in it.

On branding

Blind debossing lasts longest because there is no layer to wear away. Foil is brighter and wears at the grip points. Print is cheapest and shortest lived.

Debossing has a minimum line width, so hairlines and small type close up in the material. We redraw free, send a pressed proof so you can feel the depth before the run, and hold the die so a top-up order in two years matches the originals.
